Maeda Shokudo
If you happen to be up north driving around and looking for something local to eat, try Maeda Shokudo. For many years this very simple soba shop has been satisfying their customers with huge bowls of Okinawa soba (island noodles). There is nothing fancy about Maeda Shokudo, but your belly will be full and your taste buds satisfied. I definitely recommend the "Gyuuniku Soba" (pictured below).
Maeda Shokudo is located along Highway 58 in Ogimi-son.

Sakae Ryouriten
This restaurant, which is not listed in the Okinawa Explorer, has delicious food and a nice atmosphere. The staff is friendly and the owner, Mr. Odo, takes special care in selecting fresh, local ingredients. The menu is based on common foods found in Okinawa that are blended together to form fabulous original dishes that will leave your mouth watering for more. Everything here is very tasty, especially the fresh vegetables, local pork and fish. If you are looking for a different taste of Okinawa, this is the place to go.
